
SAMUEL B. BOONE'S WILL:Written July 18, 1885In the name of God Amen: I Samuel Bell Boone of the County of Northampton in the State of North Carolina, being weak in body, but of sound mind, memory, and understanding, praise be to God for the same, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following. Item First - I devise unto my belove wife Annie M. for and during the period of her natural life all that portion of the tract of land upon which I now reside which lies and is situated upon the left-hand side of the road leading from the town of Jackson in Northampton County to Halifax Ferry on the Roanoke River and upon which the dwelling house is situated, also all that tract of land known as part of the old Calvert Tract which was conveyed by deed of Wm.H. Hughes, James A. Buxton and others to my wife and self, and by subsequent conveyances from my wife and self to W.C. Bowers and by him to me, also two acres of land lying upon the right-hand side of said wood and directly in front of the dwelling house and upon which is situated the barn, stables and other out buildings. Said two acres of land is to be set apart and allowed to my executor hereinafter to be named. Item Second - I bequeath to my beloved wife all my household and kitchen furniture of every kind and description save and except my book case. Item Third - I devise to my infant son Lemuel Bell Boone all the balance of my real estate, save and except my mill, to him and his heirs forever. Item Fourth - My will and desire is that my executor hereinafter to be named shall sell my said mill at such time, at public or private sale, and upon such terms as he shall deem best and until such sale my said executor shall rent or lease my said mill and the proceeds arising from suchh sale or renting I devise to my son and his heirs forever. Item Fifth - My will and desire is that my said executor shall rent or lease the land devised in Item Third until a guardian or receiver shall be appointed for my said son and the proceeds of such rentings shall go to and be the true property of my said son. Item Sixth - I bequeath my said son my book case. Item Seventh - All my chattle property not herein before specifically bequeather I desire my executor to sell, I also desire him to collect all debts due me and after the payment of any debts due by my estate and the expenses of settling my said estate, my will and desire is that the balance arising from such sales and debts collected and any money that I might have on hand at the time of my death shall be equally divided between my wife and my son. Item Eighth - I wish to be buried by the side of my mother in the Protestant Episcopal Church Yard in Jackson and I desire a toomb-stone or monument erected over my grave to cost not to exceed two hundred dollars and I request my dear sister Lillie J. Summerell to select said toomb-stone or monument as she shall deem most appropriate. The purchase money for the same and the cost of erecting it and all funeral expenses are to be paid by my executor out of the funds mentioned in Item Seventh. Item Ninth - I hereby nominate and appoint my friend W.C. Bowers to be the executor of my last will and testament.
