JOYNER BOON'S WILL:

State of North Carolina Northampton County
In the name of god Amen

I Joyner Boone of the county and state afforsaid being weak in body but of sound mind and memory and duly considering the certainty of Death and the uncertainty of this mortal life do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following.

1st I resign my soul to almighty god who gave it and my body to be decently buried at the discretion of my friends.

2nd It is my will and desire that my beloved wife Sarah Boon should have the use and benefit of all my property consisting of all my lands and plantations the stock and crops of every description; all the household and kitchen furniture farming and plantation eutencils of every description with all my negros namely Richard, Aaron, Arthur, Harry, Cherry, Exy, Betty, Dawson, Luiza, Michael, Harriott and Macklin with all their increase during their natural life.

3rdly After the death of my wife I give and bequeath unto my grandson Charlton Barkley all my estate of every description as above named to him and his heirs forever giving him full possession of the above named Negro Arthur at my Death and forever.

4th and last I do nominate and apoynt my beloved wife Sarah Boon my whole and sole executor to this my last will and testament Clothing her with full power and authority to sell any Part of the Crop Stock or provisions as may be in her interest and the interest of my grandson Charlton Barkley, in witness hereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal this 9th day of February AD 1848.
