JESSE BOON'S WILL

Written March 28, 1831

In the name of God amen, I Jesse Boon Sen., of the County of Northampton of the State of North Carolina, being at this time very weak in body but of sound mind and memory, thanks be to God, calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is once appointed for all flesh once to die. As for the worldly goods, that it has pleased God to bless me with, I give in the following manner and form, Viz.

Item 1 - I lend unto my beloved wife Vinea Boon one negro man named Jacob also one negro woman named Clary and her increase, also one bed and furniture, also a negro girl named Eliza, all of which I lend unto her during her natural life or widowhood, then to be equally divided between Jesse Boon, Binford Boon, Mary Boon, William Boon, and Anna Boon, all of which are my sons and daughters, to them and their heirs forever.

Item 2 - I give unto my son William Boon, one negro boy named Sam, also the horse, bridle and saddle, cow and calf, sow and pigs, which he has had heretofore, to him and his heirs forever.

Item 3 - I lend to my daughter Martha Brewer one negro boy named Anthony, also the sum of eighteen dollars in cash, all of which I lend to her during her life, and then to be divided equally between all of her children then living, to them and their heirs forever.

Item 4 - I give and bequeath unto my son Edwin Boon, the tract of land that I purchased from Benjamin Warr, one horse, cow and calf, sow and pigs, one bed and furniture, also one negro girl named Penny, all of which I give unto him and his heirs forever.

Item 5 - I lend unto my daughter Pherabe Daughtry, one bed and furniture, one cow and calf, one sow and pigs, also one negro woman named Olive, and her increase, all of which I lend to her during her life, then to be equally divided between all of her children, to them and their heirs forever.

Item 6 - I give and bequeath unto my daughter Temperence Revels, one bed and furniture, one cow and calf, also one negro woman named Pheba, and increase, also a negro child named Tilda, to her and her heirs forever.

Item 7 - I give and bequeath to my daughter Lucy Boon, one bed and furniture, one cow and calf, also a negro boy named Frank, to her and her heirs forever.

Item 8 - I give and bequeath unto my son Jesse Boon, the tract of land that I bought of Isaac Parker, adjoining J.Wheeler, one bed and furniture, also one negro boy named Henry, to him and his heirs forever.

Item 9 - I give and bequeath unto my son Benford Boon, all of the tract of land that I purchased of Britten Lassiter, one negro boy by the name of Isaac, to him and his heirs forever.

Item 10 - I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Boon, one negro girl named Uriah, also the sum of forty dollars in cash, to her and her heirs forever.

Item 11 - I give and bequeath to my son Willie Boon, one negro man named Alston, also the tract of land that I now live in (viz), the part that I bought of Arthur Griffin, which land I give him after his mother's death, also the tract of land that I purchased of Edward Cleaves, to him and his heirs forever.

Item 12 - I give and bequeath to my daughter Anna Boon, one negro man named Exum, to her and her heirs forever.

Item 13 - It is also my desire that all the remainder of my estate of whatever kind to be sold and after paying all of my just debts, to be equally divided between my wife and all of my children.

Item 14 - I do nominate and appoint William Boon and Edmund Jacobs sole executors to this my last will and testament, and hereby revoking all other wills by me made. In witness whereof I have set my hand and affixed my seal, this 28th day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty one

Signed, sealed and delivered in the presence of us, Edmund Jacobs, William Boon, Jesse Boon

Northampton County June Court 1832. This last will and testament of Jesse Boon was exhibited in open court and proved in due form of law and by the oath of Edmund Jacobs, one of the subscribing witnesses thereto, and ordered to be certified and recorded. Wherefor, William Boon, one of the executors therein, qualified according to the law. Teste: Richard H. Weaver, Clerk
