
BENJAMIN BOON'S WILL:Written March 26, 1815In the name of God Amen, I Benjamin Boon of Northampton County and State of North Carolina being at this time well in health thanks be to God for it. And calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all flesh to die, being of disposing mind and being in my perfect sound senses and memory do make this my last will and testament in following manner and form. Item. I give and bequeath unto my son Benjamin Boon all my land that I now own and two negroes by the name of Jack and Mark and one cofat (??) and one still to him and his heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Lucy Langford one negro woman named Judah and all her increase to she and her heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Polly Joyner one negro girl by the name of Dorcas to she and her heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Rebecca Pledger one negro boy by the name of Cary, to she and her heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Miriam Woodard to negro boys by the name of Cugger and Tom to she and her heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Charity Davis five pounds to she and her heirs forever. Item. My will and desire is that my negro woman named Milly and her increase be sold at public sale and the money arising from the sale of said negro to remain in the hands of my executor hereafter named and for him to give my daughter Charity twenty five dollars a year till he gives her three hundred dollars. Item. My will and desire is that all my property not before mentioned shall be sold at public sale and the money arising from the sale thereof to pay the balance if the negro woman before mentioned should not sell for enough to raise three hundred dollars and also pay my executor to pay all my justs debts and the balance after all is discharged to be equally divided between four of my daughters, to wit, Lucy Langford, Polly Joyner, Rebecca Pledger and Miriam Woodard to them and their heirs forever. I do nominate and appoint my son Benjamin Boon and Elliott Futrell my two executors to this my last will and testament and do hereby disannul all other wills heretofore made by me: whereas I do hereby set my hand and affix my seal this 26th day of March 1815 Benja: Boon signed in the presence of Willie Futrell, Horea Futrell, Dempsey Futrell Junior. Northampton, December Court 1815. This last will and testament of Benjamin Boon was exhibited into Court and proved by the oaths of Willie Futrell and Horea Futrell two of the subscribing witnesses thereto, whereupon Benjamin Boon jun one of the executors in said will named was qualified according to the law, time being reserved for the other executor Ordered that said will be recorded.
