
JACOB BOON'S WILL:Written October 13, 1778In the name of God Amen, this 13th day of October 1778. I Jacob Boon of the County of Northampton and State of North Carolina being of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God, and calling to mind the uncertainty of life and that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say First I give my body to the earth to be buried at the discretion of my Executors hereafter mentioned and my soul to almighty God who gave it, nothing doubting but that it will be raised again by his mighty power at the resurrection of the Just, and be Crownd with the joys of an everlasting life and for what temperal Estate it hath pleased God to bless me with I dispose of in manner and form following. I give and bequeath unto my son Jesse Boon my manor plantation where I now live and the land belonging to it also and all of my tools and one chest. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughters (** written then struck: "Sally, Lily (or Lucy), Becky and Patty. Each") of them one feather bed and furniture a peace. Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Lucy all the remainder of my Estate during her natural life or widow hood and afterward the said remainder of my Estate to be equally divided between all of my children, and I do ordain and appoint my beloved wife Lucy and my sons Benjamin and Jacob Boon Executors to this my last will and testament and do hereby revoke and make void and do annul all former wills by me made and declaring this and this only to be my last will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this day and year above written.
