Published Source Material:

Thompson reference books The most extensive single collection of data on non-Daniel Boone Boone Genealogy that I've seen is a two-volume set produced in the early 1980's by Rupert FarnhamThompson. There are at least 1000 copies of these books in libraries around the country, and you can see my well-worn copies at the right ! ( I've also seen a darker-blue version, with gold-stamped title !) As he collected information, he made every effort to reference his sources. I have used many of the same published sources so, for the sake of simplicity (for those who want to locate the "original" research that most of us share), I will use Thompson's bibleography order for the first 160+ sources, and then add sources specific to my own work, beginning with number 201. I have omitted ALL of Thompson's references to "individuals" as sources, in this on-line listing; only printed sources remain.

Understand that some of these "sources" have used other, "older sources" to develop the information that they present. PLEASE REMEMBER. . . that in some cases, the original published "source" made an error -- by mis-reading handwritten documents, or by making assumptions about individuals and relationships, in the absence of any conflicting information at that time. . . . Some of these errors have been identified, quantified, and corrected, as new information has come to light. . . . Some have not. Wherever possible, I try to identify these "conflicts", with references to both perspectives, so that you can make your own interpretation.

The point is, don't assume that anything is absolutely, positively accurate. Look for two or more separate source-records or accounts of the same information or event, whenever possible. When in doubt, try to access the "original" documents quoted by an author, and read it yourself !!!

It could be that YOU have the missing piece of the puzzle that will clarify and correct some present misconception -- so SHARE what you can !!!
