Boones of England
Boone Family
Fragments in . . . .

We have had great difficulty tying immigrant families to specific groups in England.
  • The Boone family that produced Daniel Boone, the Kentucky pioneer, seems to have come from Exeter, in southwest England. Group number 1 on the map..

  • The Boone family that evolves in South Carolina, appears to be descended from residents of Devon and Somerset, in southwest England. Group number 2 on the map..

  • New informations suggests that the Boone family that evolved in Virginia and eastern North Carolina may be related to groups in Middlesex County and London, in eastern England. Group number 3 on the map..

There are a number of resources in the UK for tracing surnames, built around the GENUKI system; essentially every (almost!) county (shire) has a genealogy site, in in those sites are surname lists and individuals who are working on them.
