Nicholas Boone, Isle of Wight, Virginia:
|
The name of Nicholas Boone only shows up in a couple of early Virginia court records, and no land records, so it is possible that he lives in England, or another colony, but passes thru the Virginia colony on ocassion. - In Isle of Wight County Deed Book Number 1, from reference 005, page 548, "Wm Ruffin empowers his son Robert to defent in a court suit of Nich. Boone, 7 Feb 1667". Other researchers have read this name as "Brown", so without personally viewing the original, I can't confirm either interpretation.
- From the Calendar of State Papers, Volume 39, Folio 85, PRO, quoted in reference 001, volume 7 of the series, page 162-163, Nic.Boone is one of about 75 men who sign an petition in October 1677, requesting a pardon for William West, an associate of Nathaniel Bacon in the Rebellion of 1676. Detail work on the participants in this petition continues.
His participation in the 1677 petition would indicate he was born before October 1656; if the former reference to 1667 is also true, he would have been born prior to February 1646.
