Initial info for this Nicholas and his wife Elizabeth is drawn from a memorial brass installed in All Hallows Church, Edmonton, Middlesex, UK.
Robert Boon, a researcher in the UK, contributed info from a will for "Nicholas Bone of All Hallows, Edmonton", who died in 1523, who appears to be the same individual. The will describes Nicholas' desire to be buried in the chapel of All Hallows, Edmonton, near the body of his late wife Elizabeth. It identifies brothers John (Barnfield?), Bede Bone, and William Bone, as well as William's son named William Bone. It prays for the souls of his "fader and mother", Thomas and Agnes (or Agnet) Bone; and for the soul of "of Thomas (Bourgehes ?) late cardenall" ((Thomas Bourchier, who appears to have made Nicholas a bailiff about 1486)). It also seems to indicate that he has remarried as he identifies his "wife" as executor, with another person, name unreadable, as overseer. It appears to be probated in May 1523.
Following this "Bone" name has identified a bailiff of Edmonton named Nicholas Bone who apparently served from 1486 until his death in 1523. Additional info found in PRO records have identified the second wife and executor as Rose Bone, but we don't know her maiden name or the date of their marriage. The copy of the rubbing was provided by Graham Dahling, Local History Unit, Enfield.
As best I can determine, (updated 12/01, with help from Graham) it says:
"Of death we have tasted the mortal rage
Now lying both to geddre (together) under thys stone
That somtyme were knytt by bond of mariage
For terme of lyfe two bodyes in one
Therefore good people to God enthrone
Pray frome the one body two soulys procede
The which in oone copany to hevyne may gone
That temporal mariage everlastyng succede."
